Valentine’s Day

Each year, my stance on celebrating Valentine’s Day seems to change and I like it less and less.  Overall, I think it’s an overpriced Hallmark holiday in which I’m obligated to give tokens of my love to my husband and children.

The girls both got sweet little gifts from both sets of grandparents (stuffed bears, candy and the now-beloved Hello Kitty drawing paper), but when I tried to explain the holiday behind the presents, they didn’t quite understand.  Luckily, they haven’t asked many questions beyond “is it time for chocolate?” :o)

I will say, each year, I do make my husband a card, not necessarily because it’s Valentine’s day, but because it’s an excuse to remind him how much he is loved and appreciated… plus I just like making cards and this is the only time of year I can get away with an extremely sappy cards ;o)

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?

I give my husband and two children cards. And I get the kids a small gift. This year I got my son a car charger for his cell phone and my daughter the banner for her college-to-be (Rutgers).
