some mornings

There are plenty of mornings that we as a family just can’t get it together.  We all wake up at odd times, some of us take a little longer to actually start functioning for the day, some of us are more cranky than others.

Then there are mornings like today.  Mama wakes up an hour early and has the chance to relax, read and slowly wake up without children jumping on the bed or causing chaos in their bedrooms.

This morning started out with an email from my husband, telling me that he wasn’t able to find a pen to write me a note before he left for work, so he hoped that I liked his “I love u” message.  Perplexed, I went down to the kitchen where my morning note usually sits and found this:

I am 100% positive that this is the sweetest note/ message I’ve ever received from Terry.

With such a great start to my day, I was afraid that it would all go downhill from there, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Harper woke up in a fantastic mood & we got some one-on-one time to play before Ariana woke up.  Both girls got dressed without fuss (normally one of them fights the clothing choice of the day) and ran downstairs to play so I could cook breakfast.

In a rare, shocking moment, the breakfast that I had listed on the meal plan for this week was what they requested- oatmeal with strawberries & raisins.  Hooray!  Also surprising: I was able to coordinate coffee, breakfast & drinks so that we were all able to sit down and eat at the same time.

The only thing that could have made this the perfect morning is if Terry had been home with us, but I can’t complain too much.
